I've been an independent practicing psychologist in North Dakota since 2000, directing clinical training clinics, supporting the business side of multiple practices, and supervising graduate students. In 2014, I moved into corporate R&D, working to bring behavioral healthcare technologies to market. By 2017, I was sharing what I'd learned about balanced living and diversified business — and that work has grown into what I do today.

Early on, the business side of practice frustrated me. Money conversations felt uncomfortable, so support staff often handled them — which kept me comfortable, but kept me from learning that part of the business. I saw the same pattern in corporate rooms: budget came last in the conversation, even though it's one of the most foundational parts of any working relationship. Learning to lead with clarity instead of avoidance changed how I work — and it's now central to what I teach.​
